THE FOUND ART EFFORT

dsc_0118

SADLY, DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING, THIS PART OF TMO.COM NO LONGER EXISTS.

THINK OF THIS PAGE LIKE A TIME CAPSULE FROM 2007-09.

Please see the documentary to check out the Found Art Effort in action.

……….

The idea for this part of the general Mixtress project — which has now, obviously, super-evolved — came about after years of making mixes and “hiding them” in plain sight around various cities that I either lived in or would be visiting. To do it in conjunction with the exchange, naturally, was an effort at viral marketing…and MAN, did it ever take off! This is the first public, organized effort of its kind that I know of — I welcome your involvement!
–> I must be clear and tell you that this mix is a separate mix from the monthly mix/exchange mix. This is totally separate, doesn’t get blogged about, and the only way to know what you’re hearing is to find one and get the password for the liner notes. I think people get confused about that, so, just sayin’. If you’re jonesin’ for tunes: participate in the exchange (learn about it here)! Cheap and plentiful, kids. <–

Anyway, the thought of random people finding them and potentially enjoying them (or at least the joy of the surprise) completely thrills me. Plus, there’s something exciting about covertly leaving a CD propped in a subway station or a park bench or a library…
If you want to help spread the tunes and art: read about becoming a “Mixtress Ninja”!
